Alloy Yachts - SY Vertigo

The Challenge

Manson Anchors, sister company of Bowmaster were approached by Alloy Yachts four months after the S/Y Kokomo project regarding a new build, S/Y Vertigo.

S/Y Vertigo was of a similar deign to previous Alloy yacht Kokomo, but it was significantly bigger. At a grand length of 69m/ 220ft, sleek and undisturbed lines were very important to the aesthetics of this yacht. The challenge was allowing sufficient space in the slim bow for the submarine system. With the
learnings from the recently completed S/Y Kokomo project still on everyones minds, the Alloy Yachts team could adapt anchoring solutions for the best design.

The Solution

The Manson Anchors team recommended the Manson Hiding anchor that was designed espically for S/Y Kokomo for S/Y Vertigo.

This anchor was designed as a flush fitting pocket anchor with a polished closing plate.

The inward tapered flukes enable the base plate to be wider than the fluke tips which enables the flush fitting format. This anchor was designed to be deployed via wetbox from the base of the hull for a clean look.

The Manson Hiding anchor is Lloyd’s Register Approved as High Holding Power (HHP) up to 4300kg.

This anchor has been used multiple times by the world’s leading shipyards, Royal Huisman, Baltic Yachts, Vitters Shipyard in conjunction with the
Bowmaster submarine deployment systems.

S/Y Vertigo went on to win many international superyacht awards after launch: International Superyacht society awards 2012- Best Sailing Yacht over 40m
